"I'm a wreck."

"I'm a wreck" seemed to be the quote of my day on Tuesday. I would love to know how many times I said it. Prepare yourself for my over dramatic novel:
Monday night, right before I fell asleep, by the grace of God i realized something; that I had a HUGE paper due in my music class the next morning. I considered turning it in late, or skipping class, all of which were knocked down by the "I WILL TAKE NO LATE PAPERS" that I remembered she would stress at the end of all my professor's emails and lectures when talking about this big assignment.
New plan: Wake up before my 8 am class, at 6 am, write the paper, print it out and go to English. So far so good. woke up, got a mocha Starbucks Frap out of the vending machine, and cranked out the paper. Printed it out, went to English when my friend reminded me I should have made it double spaced. Thankfully, got out of class a few mins early to rush to the library and reprint it this time double spaced.

I was pushing it on time, booking it to class. Almost to class, crossing the crosswalk right infront of the building, tripped and fell in the middle of the street. embarassing. Tried to play it off and get up quick to go back to the sidewalk and brush my knees and hands off. A kid pedestrian boy stopped to make sure I was okay and I assured him I was, until I looked down. I panicked at all the blood, and said "I don't know what to do!" He awkwardly didnt either so i sent him on his way. That's when I realized the rock. Stuck in my knee.

With my paper in my hand I considered still going to class to turn it in, but that was a stupid option. there was so much blood dripping down my leg! My first instinct: Call my best pal Claire. Bad news. claire was in class. At this point I'm freaking myself out and start limping my way across campus to the wellness center. Call Patrick. He's asleep in bed. Call Graham. THANK YOU for answering. Graham talked to my crying, panicking, wounded self all the way til I got to the health center. I got my act together so that I could talk to the nurse, but as soon as I told her what was wrong, I broke down in tears at the words "There's a rock stuck in me!" Told you I was dramatic.

The nurse took me back, cleaned up my knee, took the rock out (without warning....I panicked) But when she held it up i asked "Can I have it?" YES. she cleaned it up and it is currently sitting on my desk. She told me I could come back in an hour for my stitches. I sat with some friends (Ethan and Josh) in the d-hall (only after crying again) after telling my story, was able to turn my paper in YES and head back and get my 2 stitches.

The best summary is me laying on the grass on the mall, after telling my friends what happened and saying "I'm a wounded animal!" Other quotes from the day "I'm a wounded fox!!!" and "I'm a wounded soldier!" GOODTIMES.

Warning: Don't Look at this if you hate blood:
Picture I snuck on the elevator to the nurse to send to dad so he could access the situation:
Note: rock is in there somewhere.

living the COLLEGELIFE

Things to know about my current life:
  • I currently love Eminem. I know it's kindof weird but I love him. I wish i had an Eminem collage for my wall...
  • I am training for a triathlon. It's a mini triathlon, but I try to not announce that fact when I'm bragging about it. 300 yd swim. 10 mile bike. 5K run. I've got the swim down slow, but I can do it in about 6 minutes. The bike I can do. and the run is a work in progress. I did 3 miles today!! I also need to start working on doing all three, not just one event. Word on the street is that's the hardest part of triathlons. Putting them all together.
  • I'm so excited for spring break. Two goals for our trip: Ruggedness and Celebrate America. The plan: (90% positive) that we'll go to Rockbridge YoungLife camp and work the ropes course, roadtrip to Washington D.C. (the capital of America), stay at Claire's house a few nights (watuppp) and possibly camp in her backyard? look at some cool waterfalls? Tour D.C. and wear America tee's while carrying American flags. Then back home for a few nights and then my triathlon! #weebitexcited
  • I love trending. I don't have twitter. But I love trending it's kindof a problem when I trend in real life. I do it too much.
  • I'm obsessed with the Olsen twins as children. I have been watching Mary-Kate and Ashley videos on youtube for the past 40 minutes. embarrassing? never.
  • I LOVE harry potter. I'm on the 5th book. It took me a while to get started on it, but I've gotten past the first few chapters (always the decider on if I'm gonna finish a book)
  • I went to my first ever visit during office hours to my teacher. It was a miracle. I loved it. I LOVE office hours. my teacher was so kind, she rocks, she was so helpful and she was so thankful that I stopped by. I was so happy, I will be at office hours next time I have the tiniest of a question. so kind. so so kind
  • my descriptive word of myself these days=punk. example: "I'm such a punk today"
  • Valentines day was so good. I got a package in the mail full of candy and goodies. I laid in my bed with Claire and ate warm delights and watched Eminem videos from the Grammys (heaven) and delivered valentines all day (aka role played cupid). Then got dressed up and went out to some japanese restaurant with "single ladies only" we had the best waiter man (the guy that makes the food infront of you) named Sov. He wouldn't stop throwing mushrooms at us.... we threw them back. and our real waiter gave us atleast 4 fortune cookies each. SUCCESS and I finally won a game of phase 10 YES.
  • I am getting SO excited to be on Summer Staff at Windy Gap May 21-June 19!! ROPES COURSE! it's gonna turn me soo ruggeddd!! A month in the trees! #rugged       I bought Patagonia "baggie" shorts just for the month to add to my rugged attire.

A New York Christmas

For Christmas, the fam travelled up to NYC to enjoy a northern Christmas. We had never been, nor did we know anyone that lives up there, yet decided to travel this year for something different. GREAT decision.
Things to know about our trip to New York City:
-It was very cold
-Our favorite breakfast place is now starbucks
-LADY LIBERTY is BEAUTIFUL (especially with a sunset behind her): God Bless America
-BUT people dressed up like lady liberty are a SCAM and will take your money if you get a picture with them (fell for it on our first day there..)
-Ellis Island is kindof boring. Interesting, but don't stay there longer than 2 hours...
-Times Square is awesome
-the word I chose to use to describe our trip=Overwhelming. Everything about New York is overwhelming or too much; the buildings, the people, etc.
-WICKED IS AWESOME
-Carlos bakery is real and looks just like the TV show portrays it
-DONT go up on top of the empire state building when its snowing. Its even colder and windier up there AND you can't see anything but cloud/snow!!
-central park is so legit
-central park zoo is even more legit
-we hated china town. I don't understand it. everyone just gets in your bubble/face: "Gucci? Luis Vuitton? Prada?" NO LADY i just wanna walk down the street
-little italy is yummy though AND ferraras is the best bakery i've ever step foot in
-SASSY became the family's new favorite word. seriously. we use it to describe everyone.
-New York had the 5th biggest blizzard in their history the day after christmas (no white christmas for us!)
-because of the loads of snow, we couldn't fly out and ended up having to rent a car and drive home through the night so I could make a plane the next day!

So there's NYC in a nutshell. It was a great trip and super cool to see all decorated and such for christmastime. This Christmas was much different than most, the first that we've travelled and broke traditions. So it didn't really feel like Christmastime,t we had a blast and made the best of memories up there in the City. Cant wait to go back, I'd love to see it in the summertime!! (Roadtrip anyone?)

Charlie

I really just wish I could have a little boy and name him Charlie. Unfortunately I can't though, because everyone would think it was vain or obsessed with myself or something because my name's Carlie. Rats. Sorry Charlie.

Back to shopping: Old Navy, Calendar place, TJ Maxx, WalMart
Success of a shopping day.
Then, wrapped some presents because I was so excited and wanted to pretend I was Santa's Elf while listening to Christmas Music.
and, Wendy's with my small group=French Fries
THEN Chronicles of Narnia 3 premier. It was flawless:

1. it was in 3-D
2. my small group leader Whitney bought my ticket because she heard I'm going broke
3. Chick-Fil-A was there giving away free items (got free cinnamon twists, and a free soda!)
4. Some lady in the bathroom lectured me for an hour about how I shouldn't have teenage kids for a long time because she couldn't find her 14 year old daughter.
5. Better news: she told me they came to the movies to watch Tangled with her 14 year old because she had a boyfriend she was meeting up with.
6. The movie people had a spinning wheel for prizes, I saw this t-shirt I wanted and told her, but instead I landed on "Large movie poster" BUT she said "oh we just ran out of those" and handed me AN ASLAN TSHIRT!!! BEST PRIZE EVER
and another lady handed me a narnia silly band even though I didn't win that prize either!
7.  This old couple was there representing Operation Christmas child and I talked to them telling them I've already made a box and they gave me free pens! so precious.
8. THEN the gellato place,  Scoops was giving away free samples of some fancy peppermint stuff. YES
9. THE MOVIE ROCKED
10. i love Aslan.
Tomorrow= HUGE football game that i'm superpumped for. cant wait.

Vases, Snow, and the best All-American movie.

When I was in Florida, my grandmom called me into the other room. She said "I have something I've been saving for you." She points down to this:
I tried not to laugh because I have no idea what it is! I said "OH thank you!" But I thought she was joking. Now I feel bad for thinking that because she went on to explain it belonged to her cousin's daughter, Carlie, who died of polio at the age of 25 and that she had been saving it for me so that I could have it because it would mean something to me. I still wasn't sure how to react and I (as nicely as I could) asked her "What's it for?" She said "for this" and she pointed at it, sitting on her floor being a 'decoration'. I was wondering what the hole on top is for and she said "I guess it could be like a vase or something but I think it's just decoration." Thank you grandmom.

I havent seen this much snow in who knows how long. All I wish is that 1. I had my snow pants and snow gloves at college with me so i could go play in it and 2. I had a sled here so I could go sledding
Last night though me and my floormates (mostly Allie-hollaa!) played outside in the snow pretending to be Harry Potter with icicle wands. EXPECTO PATRONUM!!!! AVADA KEDAVRA (spelling may be a little off?) our personal favorite... STUPIFY!!! hahaha that was the BEST snow game ever.

We took a little trip to Wal-Mart yesterday and thankfully praise JESUS found Talladega Nights for only 5 dollars! I just saw this movie for the first time at the beginning of the school year and i LOVE it. It is the best, classiest, All american, southern pride movie ive ever seen and it couldnt be more perfect. Please watch it if you've never seen it.
